Hi everyone! I feel the need to reintroduce myself because I’ve been gone for so long… So, hello! My name is Ali and I am a young mama to the cutest girl (yes, I may be a bit biased) in the world, Miss Chandler Moon. If you’re just joining us, I started this platform because I have made it a point during my short years of motherhood to do things the way I thought was best for my babe and taking all advice with a grain of salt. I swear the best parents are the ones who don’t have kids, hehe (it’s a joke).
This summer has been so so crazy. Our lives have hit a total 180 flip and we’ve been adjusting. Plus, those of you that have a toddler know that the #TerribleTwos are no joke. Seriously, when did my sweet baby turn into a two going on sixteen-year-old drama queen? With all the craziness, I have made a huge effort to slow down. Being a working mama, it’s sometimes so hard to pick your child up from school, take them to dance or soccer or whatever after-school activity you’ve signed them up for and get them home with just enough time to eat dinner, bathe, and do bedtime routine without going crazy. You catch yourself just going through the motion and not appreciating those little moments and you feel like something is missing.
I know “self love” has been a big hype in 2018, but I took the time to really self-reflect and find out what was missing. As a mom, you are constantly doing things to make sure your offspring is happy and busy and has a full belly and is well-rested. But what are you doing to make sure YOU are happy? It’s so important to take time for yourself and it’s ok to be a little bit selfish.
Go on that GNO (or my recent favorite GNI– Girl’s Night In), get a pedicure, see a therapist, go to yoga, and make it a habit. I have found myself to be a much better mama and so much more attentive when I am a little bit selfish and a lot more sane, lol. I made a promise to myself to not forget to take care of me and in return I feel as though I am a better mama, a better daughter, a better friend, and all in all, a better person. It feels so good to be back and I would love to hear from you all what you would like to see more of! Leave a comment, email me, DM me, send a carrier pigeon, whatever floats your boat!
