My 2018 Goals

Happy New Year everyone! And I know what you’re thinking… Ali, you’re 11 days late. But I was honestly on my death bed last week, and I have finally gotten back on my feet, caught up on work, taken down all my Christmas decorations and now have time to sit & reflect & plan. This holiday season was soo hectic from preparing for Santa, to getting engaged (eek!), and it definitely all caught up with me last week. I love that each new year is like a reset button and we all get a chance to revisit what’s important to us and create new goals while still working on ones from the years prior. I feel like a lot of my goals are a continuation of last years, but don’t worry, I’ve thrown in a few more to challenge myself.

1. BE MORE PRESENT

I swear this is an ongoing goal of mine. Whether it’s work, or social media, or whatever, I just want the power to put it all on the back burner and sit with my little girl and play with her LEGOs, or eat dinner, or hear her tell me a story about her babydoll. I don’t know if this means leaving my phone in a certain place or closing my laptop at 5PM, but it’s definitely something that I feel like I can constantly become better at.

2. MOM GUILT

I feel like this goes hand in hand with being present. It takes so much in the morning to drop my daughter at school for extended hours a day so that I can get to work or taking a work call on a Saturday when it should be OUR day. It may be something I never get over but maybe just something I work on accepting. I am a Mama and I also have a full-time job– how do you work on separating the two?

3. HEALTH

Another ongoing goal of mine and I feel like I restart it every Monday!! Lol. But I think the most reasonable way to do it is to eat clean during the week & enjoy myself on the weekends. Who else is going to eat Chandler’s mac & cheese leftovers on Saturday afternoons? Plus, I am making it a point to go to the gym at least 5 days a week, so that gives me some wiggle room. Right? I think so…

4. FINISH WHAT I START

This may be one of my worst habits. From laundry to blog posts (you should see how many drafts I have written up), it’s a terrible pattern. This year I want to make it a point to start & finish something. And not weeks apart, but in a timely manner. I have some plans set forth for this goal like fun agendas & calendars & writing things down, but definitely need help with the laundry/dishes. What motivates you to get your laundry done!? Chase yelling at me that his clothes are wrinkled just isn’t enough.
